A social scientist enrolled for doctoral studies at the Centre of Excellence in Teacher Education at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. My thesis, titled "Children's Multimodal and Intersectional Literacies across Spaces", is a case study among four adolescents between ages 11 and 13 years from historically marginalised backgrounds in Warangal, Telangana. I argue that there is a need to expand the formal definition of literacy to include literacies that include children's personal literacies in their unique out-of-school contexts to bridge the gap between school and home contexts.
